The short answer
- OpenAI says teammates can edit the same ChatGPT Slides deck in real time and leave shared comments.
- Users can @mention ChatGPT or their dot in comments to request edits, according to OpenAI's help article.
- Slides is available on ChatGPT Pro, Business and Enterprise plans with Space access, and is still rolling out to eligible accounts.
- OpenAI's help article says comment-only access isn't available at launch.
- On the web, decks export to PowerPoint, PDF or Google Slides, and Windows 10 does not support the component needed for collaborative Slides in the desktop app.
ChatGPT Slides now lets teams edit the same deck in real time, leave shared comments and ask ChatGPT or their dot to turn feedback into edits. OpenAI promoted the features in a post from its ChatGPT account on X on October 19, 2026. Slides is available on ChatGPT Pro, Business and Enterprise plans with Space access, and TechRepublic reported that OpenAI began rolling it out on October 16, 2026.
#What changed?
OpenAI's release notes say users can "Invite teammates to edit the same deck in real time and leave shared comments." The Slides help article adds: "People with edit access can edit the slides at the same time."
AI edits come from the same comment thread. The ChatGPT Slides page says: "Invite your team to edit and give feedback, and let ChatGPT or your dot make the updates." The help article says: "To request edits, @mention ChatGPT to have your agent make changes, or @mention your dot." OpenAI's X post put it as: "Ask ChatGPT or your dot to turn feedback into updates."
Other parts of the workflow, per OpenAI:
- Create. "Ask ChatGPT to turn a conversation, files, or an outline into slides, or start from a template." In Space, users select Create > Slide and start blank or from a template. OpenAI also says users can "Share an example deck with ChatGPT to guide the style and layout of your slides."
- Edit. "You can edit text, images, shapes, tables, and charts directly in the presentation." To change one element with ChatGPT, users select it, choose Request edits and describe the change.
- Present and export. Decks can be presented directly from ChatGPT. On the web, they export to PowerPoint, PDF or Google Slides. In the desktop app, they open in PowerPoint or Keynote when those apps are installed.
#Who can use it and when?
OpenAI's help article says: "Slides is available on ChatGPT Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans with Space access." Plus, Go and Free are not listed. OpenAI's pages do not give a rollout date; TechRepublic reported that "OpenAI began rolling the feature out Oct. 16 to eligible Pro, Business, and Enterprise accounts with Space access."
It is still rolling out. "Slides is rolling out to eligible accounts. If you don’t see it yet, it may not be available for your account," the help article says.
Detail | What OpenAI's pages say |
|---|---|
Plans | Pro, Business and Enterprise with Space access |
Surfaces | Web and the desktop app |
Web export | PowerPoint, PDF or Google Slides |
Desktop | Open in PowerPoint or Keynote when installed |
Comment-only sharing | Not available at launch |
#Is comment-only sharing available?
No. The Slides product page says users can "choose who can view, comment, or edit," but the help article says: "Comment-only access isn’t available at launch." TechRepublic also reported that comment-only access isn't available yet.
#What about Windows?
OpenAI's help article says that on Windows devices without the required MXC component, local AI slide creation and editing in the desktop app use PowerPoint (.pptx) files instead of collaborative Slides. "Windows 10 does not support this component, and Windows 11 users may need an update or their organization to enable it." OpenAI says to use cloud mode or ChatGPT on the web for collaborative Slides instead.
#How does it compare?
Slides is separate from OpenAI's ChatGPT for PowerPoint add-in. TechRepublic reports that "It’s different from the older ChatGPT for PowerPoint add-in," which "runs as a sidebar inside PowerPoint and supports a broader range of ChatGPT plans." OpenAI's release notes say the add-in "is available to Free, Go, Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, ChatGPT Edu, and K-12 users, subject to plan limits and workspace settings."
The dot edits connect Slides to OpenAI Dots. For background, see our coverage of the OpenAI Dots launch and our guide to setting up your first Dot. More coverage is in the OpenAI Dots hub.
OpenAI also advises users to "Review the text, figures, and layout before sharing or presenting your deck," and to "Open the exported presentation and check its content and formatting before using it."
#What is still unclear?
- Plus and other plans. OpenAI has not said whether Slides will come to Plus, Go or Free.
- Comment-only access. OpenAI says it isn't available at launch but has not said when it will be.
- Limits and pricing. OpenAI's pages do not state usage limits or separate pricing for Slides.
