OpenAI launched Pro 500 on September 29, 2026: a ChatGPT Pro plan priced at $500 per month (USD). The company's help center lists it as the top of three Pro tiers, with the highest included usage and Astra Ultrafast in ChatGPT Work and Codex. Dots began rolling out the same day on Pro plans. They are included, not sold as a separate $500 SKU.

#How much is ChatGPT Pro 500?

Pro 200 includes more usage than Pro 100. Pro 500 offers the highest included usage of the three. OpenAI's DevDay recap states that Pro 500 includes 25 times the ChatGPT Plus allowance and Ultrafast.

Pro is billed monthly. OpenAI says annual billing is not available. Twelve months at $500 is $6,000 if you stay subscribed for a year (500 × 12 = 6,000), derived from the monthly list price.

Release notes say Pro 500 is available through ChatGPT on the web at launch. You select Ultrafast in the model picker. It uses included allowance first, then credits.

#What is Ultrafast, and who gets it?

Ultrafast is OpenAI's premium speed tier for GPT-6 Astra. The DevDay recap says it offers up to 8 times faster token generation (300 tokens per second) in Codex and up to 6 times in the API. It is available today in the API and in ChatGPT Work and Codex on Pro 500 and Enterprise plans. GPT-6.1 Sol Ultrafast is listed as coming soon.

Among Pro plans, Ultrafast is available only with Pro 500. Buying credits on Pro 100 or Pro 200 does not provide access to it at launch. ChatGPT Work and Codex help repeats that Ultrafast is not available at launch on Plus, Pro $100, Pro $200, or Business, including through credits.

#What happened to the $200 Pro plan?

Pro 200 is available for new subscriptions again at $200 per month. Release notes on September 29 say new Pro 200 subscriptions are open again. The monthly price remains $200. New subscriptions that are not eligible for grandfathering include a lower usage allowance.

If a Pro 200 subscription was active at the eligibility cutoff or during the seven days before it, OpenAI says you keep the previous included usage through October 29, 2026 while the subscription stays active. After that date the subscription moves to the lower allowance. Keeping the current allowance does not add Pro 500 features or Ultrafast.

#How Pro 500 relates to Dots

Dots are rolling out as of September 29, 2026 to Pro, Business Premium, and Enterprise users in eligible markets. OpenAI's Dots post says your first dot is included in Pro or Business Premium at no extra cost. The Dots launch post lists Pro and Business Premium, with an admin-enabled Enterprise beta.

Usage rules that OpenAI has published:

  • Conversations with your dot do not count toward ChatGPT usage limits.
  • When you ask a dot to start or manage tasks in Codex or ChatGPT Work, those tasks count toward usage as usual.
  • For the next month, dots usage will not count toward eligible Pro, Business, and Enterprise plan allowances. After that, OpenAI says it will share usage terms for each plan.
  • In the future, OpenAI says you will be able to add more dots and scale each dot's speed or monthly work. It has not published add-on prices for extra dots.

Pro 500 therefore matters for Dots mainly when a dot hands work to Codex or ChatGPT Work, especially if you want Astra Ultrafast on those tasks. Talking to the dot itself is described as outside ChatGPT message limits on every eligible Pro plan, including Pro 100 and Pro 200.
