As of September 29, 2026, you get OpenAI Dots by being on ChatGPT Pro or Business Premium in an eligible market, then creating the first Dot in the ChatGPT desktop app or a desktop browser. Enterprise, Edu, and Healthcare users wait for a workspace admin to enable the beta. The first Dot is included at no extra cost on Pro and Business Premium.

OpenAI says access may take several days to reach an eligible account. If your plan qualifies and you still do not see Dots, that delay is documented.

The live Help Center article checked on September 29, 2026 says Dots roll out on web, mobile, and desktop to Pro users in markets excluding the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the UK, and to Business Premium users across all supported ChatGPT regions. The same page says Enterprise starts off.

#Which countries are eligible?

ChatGPT’s Meet dots page is the most specific first-party list fetched for this article:

  • Pro 100, Pro 200, and Pro 500: users aged 18 and older outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland.
  • Business Premium: rolling out worldwide.
  • Enterprise: rolling out worldwide, off by default until an admin enables it.

The launch post only says “eligible markets” and links to Help Center article 20001530. The live Help Center article matches the EEA, UK, and Switzerland exclusion for Pro, and says Business Premium is available across all supported ChatGPT regions.

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland on a personal Pro plan, treat Dots as unavailable on that plan until OpenAI updates those pages. Business Premium and Enterprise eligibility is wider on the documentation OpenAI published today.

#How do you create the first Dot?

Documented path, as of September 29, 2026:

  1. Use a qualifying plan in a qualifying market.
  2. Open the ChatGPT desktop app or ChatGPT in a desktop browser. The Help Center article says the desktop app is also available on Windows.
  3. Open Dots and follow the introduction.
  4. Connect apps such as email, calendar, and files, or skip and add them later.
  5. In the desktop app, choose whether to connect your computer.

You cannot currently create a Dot on mobile. Dots are not supported on mobile web. After you create it on desktop, you can talk to it in the mobile app when that update is available.

#What does it cost?

OpenAI’s launch post: your first Dot is included in your Pro or Business Premium plan at no extra cost. It is available 24/7. The plan includes an allowance for deeper work, with extended limits for the first month after launch. Later, OpenAI says, you will be able to add more Dots and scale each Dot by speed or by how much work it can take on per month.

Conversations with your Dot do not count toward ChatGPT usage limits. When you ask the Dot to start or manage tasks in Codex or ChatGPT Work, those tasks count toward those products’ usage limits as usual.

The Help Center article phrases the first month differently: for the next month, Dots usage will not count toward eligible Pro, Business, and Enterprise users’ plan allowances, and OpenAI will share usage terms after that. ChatGPT Learn and the launch post are more precise about Work and Codex still counting. Until OpenAI reconciles the wording, assume conversations are free of the ChatGPT cap and that Work and Codex tasks still draw down those products.

OpenAI’s DevDay recap names a Pro 500 plan at 25 times the ChatGPT Plus allowance, with Ultrafast. That recap does not include a dollar price. OpenAI’s Pro-tiers help page lists Pro 500 at USD $500 per month. Plan details are collected in OpenAI’s $500 tier.

#How do Enterprise, Edu, and Healthcare admins enable Dots?

OpenAI’s Enterprise admin guide, “Manage dots permissions and capabilities,” is the checklist.

Workspace owners use Permissions and roles:

  • Use dots: allow members to use Dots. Enable Use dots (Beta) as a workspace default, or grant it through a custom role.
  • Add dots to Slack: allow members to add Dots to Slack.
  • Allow local computer access: allow Dots to use a member’s local computer. This is a separate opt-in.
  • Use custom rules for dots: allow members to add or edit rules. If you disable this, members cannot edit saved rules, and saved rules do not apply.

Under Cloud computer capabilities, enable Cloud browser use, Cloud network access, and Cloud computer use where policy allows. Under Workspace capabilities, set Use password manager according to workspace policy. Then save and check access for a test member.

Granting permission does not connect Slack or a laptop. Members still complete those setups themselves. Plugin controls still govern which apps and actions Dots may use.

Local computer access has extra gates, documented in “Local computer access for Work Cloud and dots”:

  • Enable Dots for the intended users, then under Use Dots turn on Allow local computer access.
  • Users need ChatGPT desktop app version 26.929 or higher.
  • During the Enterprise beta, Dots do not support data residency or inference residency. Eligible workspaces opt in after acknowledging that.
  • Dots are unavailable for FedRAMP workspaces, workspaces with Enterprise Key Management, and workspaces with inference residency set to AE (UAE). HIPAA workspaces can participate if they meet the other rules.
  • If any cloud policy sets enforce_residency, Allow local computer access is blocked for Dots (and for Work). That safeguard does not, by itself, turn Dots off.

Enterprise model controls and defaults do not apply to Dots. Admins review Dots access directly in workspace settings.

Edu and Healthcare are named on the launch post and recap as part of the Enterprise-style beta. The admin guide’s eligibility exclusions still apply where those workspaces use FedRAMP, EKM, or UAE inference residency.

#What about specialist Dots?

Specialist Dots are not the personal Dot on Pro. OpenAI is previewing company-owned agents with their own identity, credentials, IT-provisioned hardware, and deeper integrations with systems of record. It says it is starting with focused enterprise pilots and working with Microsoft on Agent 365. If you want that path, OpenAI’s launch post points you to contact the company rather than self-serve setup.

#What to watch next

OpenAI says it plans to expand Dots to more users. As of September 29, 2026, Plus is still absent from the included-plan lists, Pro personal accounts in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland are still excluded on ChatGPT Learn, and extra-Dot pricing is still a future item on the launch post. Recheck Meet dots and the admin guide before you tell a team the feature is on.
