#What changed?
Meta said, in our translation from Japanese, "From October 23 (Japan time), Meta will begin offering its personal AI agent Muse in Japan." It added, in our translation, that "Japan is the first region where Muse is offered outside North America, where it launched first in September this year." Kyodo News also reported that Japan is Muse's "first market outside North America."
#What can Muse do in Japan?
Meta describes Muse as working like a messaging contact. In our translation from Japanese, Meta said "you can talk with it just as you would message another person." According to Meta, Muse can act on the user's behalf. In our translation, "It can carry out a variety of actions on the user's behalf, such as opening a browser and filling in forms."
For longer jobs, Meta said in our translation that Muse "keeps working after the user closes the app, and sends a notification when something changes or when approval is needed, such as to send an email or buy a product." Meta also said, in our translation, that "Muse also remembers what matters to the user and can make suggestions or take actions based on past conversations."
Meta calls Muse, in our translation, "the world's first personal AI agent designed so that anyone can use it easily." That is Meta's claim.
#Which services does it connect to?
Meta lists global connectors. In our translation from Japanese, "These include Gmail, Google Calendar and Instagram." Meta also names Stripe, Shopify, Trip.com, Agoda and Klook, saying in our translation that Muse "can be used in a wide range of situations, such as shopping and planning and booking travel."
#Which Japanese partners are planned?
Meta says it is working on integrations with three Japanese services and gives no date for any of them. In our translation from Japanese, Meta said: "With the launch of Muse in Japan, we will be moving forward with integrations with the services of Mercari, Inc., which operates the flea market app Mercari, Money Forward ME, which lets you visualize your household finances and assets, and Ticket Pia." Meta does not say these integrations are live.
Masahiro Ajisawa, representative director of Meta's Japanese entity, said in Meta's post, in our translation: "With the launch in Japan, in addition to integrations with global services that many people already use, we will also advance integrations with domestic partners, starting with Mercari, Inc., Money Forward Home, Inc. and PIA Corporation." He added, in our translation, that Meta hopes "to offer an experience that is useful in a wider range of situations, such as shopping, travel and managing daily schedules."
Kyodo reported that Meta plans to connect Muse with Mercari and Money Forward ME, and did not mention Ticket Pia. Meta's own post names all three and gives no timing.
#What does Meta say about privacy?
Meta says, in our translation from Japanese, "Muse runs on a dedicated virtual machine, Muse Secure VM," and "A Sentinel agent, independent of Muse, manages access to the internet." Meta also said, in our translation, that "Muse also cannot see users' passwords or payment methods, and checks with the user before important actions such as sending an email or buying a product."
According to Meta, in our translation, "Users can also opt out of having their interactions with Muse used to train Meta's AI models," and "Muse does not share users' conversations or the data in its virtual machine with Meta's advertising systems." Users can review the actions Muse has taken and plans to take, and can change permissions or disconnect apps, according to Meta.
#Who can use it and when?
Muse is available in Japan from October 23, 2026 (JST) on these platforms, per Meta:
Platform | Japan status, per Meta |

iOS | Available from October 23, 2026 (JST) |
Android | Available from October 23, 2026 (JST) |
muse.ai | Available from October 23, 2026 (JST) |
On pricing, Meta said, in our translation from Japanese: "Many basic features can be used free of charge, and subscription plans are also available for people who want to make more use of it." Meta's post gives no price, currency, tier name or billing period for Japan. Kyodo likewise reported only that basic features are "available free of charge."
Some features Meta announced elsewhere are not confirmed for Japan. Meta lists an advanced voice mode, Muse Realtime Avatar, which it marks as English only, and a Muse email address, and said in our translation: "We will announce the availability of these features in Japan separately." Kyodo reported that "Users can give instructions by text or voice through a dedicated smartphone app." Meta's post does not mention voice input for Japan and has not confirmed the advanced voice mode there.
#How does it compare?
The Japan launch follows Meta's Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full model launch. For how Muse's plans stacked up against OpenAI's agent when we checked on September 29, 2026, see OpenAI Dots vs Meta Muse. The prices in that comparison are US dollar plans and are not Japan prices.

- Partner dates. Meta gives no date for the Mercari, Money Forward ME or Ticket Pia integrations.
